Download PXTA
The pxta command is one file with nothing else to install. It uses the Chrome, Chromium or Edge you already have. Each archive below holds it with its license files, and the links always point to the latest release.
| System | Download |
|---|---|
| Linux, x86-64 | pxta_linux_amd64.tar.gz |

Checksums are in SHA256SUMS. Every release is listed on GitHub.
Install
On Linux or macOS:
tar -xzf pxta_linux_amd64.tar.gz
sudo mv pxta /usr/local/bin/
pxta version
The binaries are static and have no dependencies. The macOS binaries aren’t signed by Apple, so macOS may block the first run; allow it in System Settings under Privacy & Security, or run xattr -d com.apple.quarantine pxta. On Windows, unzip the archive and put pxta.exe in a folder on your PATH.
PXTA looks for Chrome, Chromium or Edge in the usual places. If yours lives somewhere else, pass --browser /path/to/chrome or set PXTA_BROWSER.
Each binary is built by the release workflow on GitHub. Before a release goes out, the workflow runs the Linux, macOS and Windows builds through a short test, including a real audit in the runner’s own Chrome.
Build It Yourself
You need Go 1.24 or later. PXTA uses only Go’s standard library, so there’s nothing else to fetch.
go install github.com/softdevstudio/pxta/cmd/pxta@latest
License
PXTA is open source under the Apache License 2.0. The binaries also contain the Go runtime (BSD license), whose notice comes in each archive.
